A prominent Islamic cleric in Kwara State, Sheikh Abdulqadir Muhammad Kamaludeen Al-Adabiy, widely known as Khalifatul-Adabiyah, has died in Ilorin in the early hours of Friday.
The late scholar, son of the renowned Islamic figure Sheikh Muhammad Kamalud-deen, was confirmed dead through multiple local reports and social media announcements by religious leaders in Ilorin.
His passing has been described as a major loss to the Ilorin Emirate, the wider Muslim community, and followers of the Adabiyyah Islamic movement. Community leaders and religious scholars have continued to express condolences, noting his influence in Islamic education and spiritual leadership.
The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, also mourned the cleric, calling his death a painful blow to the emirate and humanity in general. He prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul and asked for forgiveness of his shortcomings.
Senator Saliu Mustapha, representing Kwara Central, also expressed sadness over the loss, describing the late cleric as a respected religious leader whose life impacted many people across the state and beyond.
Sheikh Abdulqadir was the eldest surviving son of the late Sheikh Muhammad Kamaludeen, founder of the Azumratul Adabiyyah Al-Kamoliyyah movement, one of the well-known Islamic scholarly traditions in Ilorin.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced according to Islamic rites.
