Kebbi Hisbah Arrests Suspected Lover Found Hidden in Bag at Married Woman’s Home

The Kebbi State Hisbah Board has arrested a man who was allegedly discovered hiding inside a “Ghana Must-Go” bag at the residence of a married woman in the Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi.

The arrest was confirmed by the board’s Director of Sharia, Sirajo Kamba, in a statement issued on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

According to Kamba, residents alerted Hisbah officials at about 12:15 a.m. on Monday after reportedly noticing a man entering the woman’s house and suspecting conduct considered contrary to Islamic teachings.

He explained that officers were immediately dispatched to the scene to investigate the report.

“When the officers arrived, they requested permission to search the house, but the woman initially denied that anyone was inside,” Kamba said.

He added that the woman later allowed the officers to conduct a search, during which the suspect was allegedly found concealed inside a large travel bag commonly known as a “Ghana Must-Go” bag.

The Hisbah official further stated that preliminary investigations indicated the man and the married woman were allegedly involved in a romantic relationship.

According to him, both suspects reportedly admitted to the allegations during interrogation and are expected to be arraigned before a Sharia court for further legal proceedings.
