At least 12 people have been killed after Israeli air strikes targeted the village of Mashghara in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley, according to Lebanese state media.
The attacks reportedly struck residential areas late Monday night as Israel expanded its military operations across Lebanon despite an already fragile ceasefire agreement.
Lebanon’s National News Agency said several others were wounded, while rescue workers continued searching through collapsed buildings for missing residents. Local reports indicated that multiple strikes hit the area within a short period, causing widespread destruction.
The Israeli military said it carried out attacks on more than 100 Hezbollah-linked sites in the Bekaa Valley and southern Lebanon, claiming the operations targeted fighters and military infrastructure.
The escalation came shortly after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced intensified military action against Hezbollah, accusing the group of continuing drone attacks against Israeli positions.
Heavy shelling and air raids were also reported in several southern Lebanese towns, including Nabatieh, Mayfadoun and areas near Beaufort Castle. Residents in parts of southern Lebanon were ordered to evacuate north of the Zahrani River following warnings issued by the Israeli army.
Lebanon has witnessed growing violence since Hezbollah became involved in the wider regional conflict earlier this year following clashes between Israel, Iran and allied armed groups.
According to Lebanese health authorities, more than 3,100 people have been killed and thousands injured in Israeli attacks since the conflict intensified, while nearly one million residents have been displaced from their homes.
