Israeli settlers have reportedly forced Palestinian residents to abandon the farming village of Yanoun in the occupied northern West Bank, according to local accounts and media reports.
The village, located about 12 kilometers southeast of Nablus and once home to more than 200 people, is now largely deserted. Residents say repeated attacks, harassment, and intimidation by Israeli settlers made life in the area impossible.
Farmers from the village described incidents in which settlers established nearby outposts, blocked access roads, and disrupted supplies. One resident said settlers allowed livestock to destroy crops and repeatedly assaulted those who tried to return to their land.
According to reports, settlers have also installed gates and barriers restricting movement, further preventing Palestinians from accessing their homes and farmland.
The surrounding area—over 16 square kilometers of agricultural land—is now largely under settler control, while remaining residents have fled for safety.
Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank have long been considered illegal under international law, though they continue to expand. Human rights groups and United Nations bodies have repeatedly raised concerns about settlement growth and its impact on Palestinian communities.
There are now an estimated 700,000 Israeli settlers living in more than 230 settlements across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, according to widely cited figures.
The situation in Yanoun reflects broader tensions in the region, where Palestinian communities say they face increasing pressure, displacement, and loss of farmland amid ongoing settlement activity.
