Iran Holds Mass Weddings for Couples Pledging Wartime “Self-Sacrifice”

Iranian authorities have organized large-scale public wedding ceremonies in Tehran for couples who reportedly signed up to a state-linked program expressing willingness to support the country in wartime conditions.

According to Iranian media reports, hundreds of couples took part in ceremonies held across major public squares in the capital, including more than 100 couples at Imam Hossein Square. The events were also broadcast on state television as part of efforts to boost national morale amid ongoing regional tensions.

Participants were said to have registered under a “self-sacrifice” initiative, where individuals pledge support for national defense efforts, including symbolic acts of solidarity such as public demonstrations of support during conflict.

Officials claim that millions of Iranians, including senior political and government figures, have expressed support for the program.

The weddings were conducted on stage in formal ceremonies led by clerics, with couples arriving in decorated vehicles and participating in mass celebrations attended by crowds of supporters. Images from the event showed festive decorations alongside symbolic imagery of Iran’s leadership.

State media noted that the ceremonies coincided with religious and cultural commemorations, with participants expressing both marital joy and patriotic sentiment.

Authorities in Iran have recently intensified public mobilization campaigns, organizing frequent gatherings and events aimed at strengthening unity and public morale amid heightened geopolitical tensions.
