The leader of the Jigawa State Hajj delegation and Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Muhammad Hameem Nuhu Sunusi, has announced that pilgrims from the state who participated in the 2026 Hajj are expected to begin returning to Nigeria by June 6 following the successful completion of the pilgrimage.
The announcement was made during a visit to the accommodation centres of Jigawa pilgrims in Makkah, where the emir congratulated them on completing the religious rites.
He praised the pilgrims for their discipline, patience, and cooperation throughout the Hajj exercise, noting that their conduct reflected positively on the state.
The emir also advised pilgrims to comply with airline baggage regulations ahead of their departure. He warned against exceeding the approved luggage limits of 23 kilograms for checked baggage and eight kilograms for hand luggage to avoid delays, losses, or inconvenience during the journey home.
Congratulating the pilgrims on fulfilling one of Islam’s most important obligations, he encouraged them to continue praying for peace, unity, progress, and good governance in Jigawa State and Nigeria as a whole.
Authorities are currently finalising arrangements to ensure a smooth and orderly return of all pilgrims to their respective destinations.
