An investigation by Al Jazeera says at least 51 countries and territories supplied military-related goods to Israel during the Gaza war, despite international legal concerns and calls for arms restrictions.
The report, based on Israeli customs data between 2022 and 2025, found that weapons imports into Israel increased after the International Court of Justice (ICJ) warned in January 2024 of a “plausible risk of genocide” in Gaza.
According to the investigation, military-related imports worth about $885 million entered Israel during the war period, with most shipments recorded after the ICJ ruling. The imports reportedly included explosive munitions, bullets, tank parts and weapons components.
The United States remained Israel’s biggest supplier, accounting for more than 42 percent of the imports identified in the data. India ranked second, followed by Romania, Taiwan and the Czech Republic.
The report also alleged that some countries continued supplying military-related goods even after announcing export restrictions or suspensions. Countries mentioned include France, Italy, Canada, Spain, Germany and the United Kingdom.
Legal experts interviewed by the outlet argued that governments continuing to arm Israel after the ICJ warning could face accusations of complicity in international crimes. Others noted that many governments relied on existing export licences and complex global supply chains to continue transfers.
The investigation said explosive munitions formed the largest category of imports, while ammunition and bullet-related shipments also rose sharply during key stages of the war.
The Gaza war, which began in October 2023, has caused massive destruction across the enclave and triggered global protests, legal challenges and calls for arms embargoes against Israel.
