Armed men suspected to be bandits have kidnapped 13 residents during a late-night attack on Tangaram Village in the Wasagu District of Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
According to local sources, the attackers stormed the community around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, firing shots into the air before breaking into homes and forcibly taking several residents away. The assailants reportedly fled toward the forested border area linking Kebbi with Zamfara State.
The state police confirmed the incident, stating that all the abducted victims are adult males. Security forces, including police tactical units and local vigilantes, have been deployed to track the kidnappers and rescue the victims.
Residents said the area has experienced repeated attacks in recent times due to its proximity to forest routes used by armed groups operating across the North-West region. Many locals have been abducted in similar raids, with some later released after ransom payments.
Authorities say search-and-rescue operations are ongoing across border communities, while efforts continue to apprehend those responsible for the latest attack.
