US, Iran Engage in Pakistan-Mediated Diplomacy Amid Rising Regional Tensions
Senior United States envoys are reportedly heading to Islamabad, Pakistan, for indirect diplomatic discussions involving Iran, as efforts intensify to reduce growing tensions in the Middle East.
According to reports, Pakistan is playing a mediating role by hosting separate meetings with both American and Iranian representatives, aiming to ease hostilities and open channels for communication between the two rivals.
Iran’s foreign minister is already in Pakistan for talks with top officials in Islamabad, focusing on regional security and bilateral relations. However, Tehran has not confirmed any direct negotiations with U.S. officials, suggesting that any dialogue is likely being conducted through intermediaries.
The development comes amid heightened concerns over escalating U.S.–Iran tensions, including disputes over sanctions, military activities, and strategic waterways such as the Strait of Hormuz.
While the diplomatic engagement signals a potential opening for dialogue, officials from both sides remain cautious, and no breakthrough agreement has been announced.
