The Association of Nigerian Imams has gathered in Damaturu, Yobe State, for special prayers and supplications seeking divine intervention over Nigeria’s worsening security and economic challenges.
Speaking during the event held at the Islamic Centre in Damaturu, the association’s Assistant General Secretary, Dr. Yusuf Abdullahi Yusuf, said the country is currently facing serious difficulties, including insecurity and rising economic hardship, particularly in northern Nigeria.
He noted that while government and human efforts continue, the situation has persisted, adding that many religious leaders believe spiritual intervention is necessary to restore peace and stability.
According to him, the prayer session was organized to seek God’s assistance for Nigeria and its leaders, stressing the need for continued supplication for national progress.
The Yobe State Commissioner for Religious Affairs and Ethical Reorientation, Yusuf Umar, urged Nigerians to recognize the country as their only homeland and prioritize prayers for peace, unity, and development.
Also speaking, the Chief Imam of Yobe Mosque and Islamic Centre, Sheikh Hudu Mohammad Yusuf, said the association is committed to promoting sustained prayers, encouraging justice among leaders, and strengthening cooperation among Islamic scholars nationwide.
The gathering ended with collective prayers for Nigeria’s leaders, security, and overall stability.
