Making du‘a (supplication) with wasilah means asking Allah while using a permissible means to draw closer to Him. The key principle in Islam is that you still ask Allah directly—the wasilah is only a way to strengthen your supplication.
1. Start with Praise and Salawat.
Begin by praising Allah and sending blessings upon Prophet Muhammad.

c. Through Your Faith or Condition
Admit your weakness and reliance on Allah.
Example:
> “O Allah, I am in need, and You are the Most Powerful—help me.”
d. (Scholarly Difference) Through Righteous People
Some scholars allow saying:
> “O Allah, by the status of Prophet Muhammad, grant me…”
Others prefer avoiding this and sticking to direct methods above. So if you want to stay on the safest, most widely agreed path, focus on Allah’s names and your deeds.
3. Make Your Request Clearly
Ask for what you need with humility.
Example:
> “O Allah, grant me success, forgive my sins, and guide me to what is best.”
4. End with Salawat Again
Close your du‘a with blessings on the Prophet ﷺ.

> “Alhamdulillah, Ya Rahman, Ya Rahim, by Your mercy and my faith in You, forgive me and guide me. O Allah, ease my affairs and grant me what is good. Allahumma salli ‘ala Muhammad.”
