In Islam, there is no specific fixed number of “good deeds” stated for completing the entire Qur’an in Ramadan, but the reward is described as enormous, multiplied, and beyond human calculation. The exact reward is known only to Allah ﷻ.
However, we can understand the greatness of the reward by combining authentic teachings from the Qur’an and Sunnah.
1. Reward for every letter of the Qur’an.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
> “Whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allah will have a good deed, and each good deed is multiplied by ten.”
— (At-Tirmidhi).
This means:
Every single letter you recite earns at least 10 good deeds
For example, longer words contain multiple letters, so the reward increases significantly.
So even a small portion of recitation carries continuous reward.
2. Special status of Ramadan:
Ramadan is not an ordinary month. It is the month in which:
The Qur’an was revealed
Rewards for good deeds are multiplied greatly
Mercy and forgiveness are widely granted
The gates of Paradise are opened.
Because of this, scholars explain that rewards in Ramadan are far greater than outside Ramadan, though the exact multiplication is not limited to a specific number.
3. Completing the Qur’an (Khatm) in Ramadan.
When a person completes the full Qur’an in Ramadan:
They receive:
Reward for every letter recited
Increased reward due to the sacred month
Reward for devotion, consistency, and effort
Spiritual elevation and closeness to Allah.
This makes the total reward:
> immense, multiplied, and beyond precise counting.
4. The example of the Prophet ﷺ and Jibreel
It is reported that:
Angel Jibreel عليه السلام used to review the Qur’an with the Prophet ﷺ every Ramadan
In the final year of his life, it was reviewed twice.
This shows the importance of:
Regular Qur’an recitation
Revising and completing it in Ramadan
