Dubai has declared 10 days of official mourning following the death of Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the younger brother of UAE Vice-President, Prime Minister and Dubai ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Sheikh Ahmed died at the age of 76. Authorities in Dubai ordered flags across the emirate to be flown at half-mast throughout the mourning period.
Sheikh Mohammed expressed his grief in a social media message, describing his late brother as a beloved family member who would remain in the prayers and hearts of his loved ones.
