At least eight civilians were killed in overnight Ukrainian drone strikes across several Russian regions, according to Russian regional officials. The attacks also hit a logistics warehouse belonging to online retailer Ozon and an industrial facility in the Samara region.
Samara Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev said an elderly woman was killed in Novokuibyshevsk, where industrial facilities were damaged. Ukraine’s military said it had struck an oil refinery in the city, causing a fire.
Ozon, Russia’s second-largest online retailer, said operations at its logistics centre in Chapayevsk, Samara region, were suspended after the attack. The company said the strike caused injuries.
The attack marked the first reported strike on an Ozon facility, following weeks of Ukrainian drone attacks targeting its larger rival, Wildberries. Ukraine has described such operations as part of a broader campaign against economic and logistical infrastructure supporting Russia’s war effort.
In Russia’s Krasnodar region, Governor Veniamin Kondratyev said three people, including two children, were killed in a strike on the Sea of Azov port town of Yeysk. Another adult was also reported injured, while a fire broke out at an unidentified port facility.
In the Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine, two people were killed and 13 wounded, according to the regional governor. Four others were wounded in Russia’s Bryansk region.
In Luhansk, an eastern Ukrainian region largely controlled by Russia, Moscow-appointed authorities reported that two civilians, including a 16-year-old boy, were killed and nine others wounded.
Russia’s Defence Ministry said its forces had intercepted and destroyed a total of 457 Ukrainian drones overnight.
The strikes came a day after Russian drones hit a shopping centre in central Ukraine, killing at least 16 people and injuring more than 130, according to Reuters.
The latest attacks highlight the escalating aerial war between Russia and Ukraine as the conflict approaches its fifth year. Both sides have increasingly targeted infrastructure, including oil facilities, logistics centres and other economic assets they say are linked to the opposing side’s war effort.
