Trump Demands Iran Raise ‘White Flag’ as MoU with US Ends

US President Donald Trump has demanded that Iran surrender as the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Washington and Tehran expired without an agreement to extend it.

Speaking to Fox News on Monday, Trump called on Iran to “put up the white flag of surrender” as the five-month US-Israel war with Iran continues.

Trump also claimed that his administration had established a direct backchannel with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). However, he said he was in no hurry to end the conflict or return to a deal, despite the upcoming November US midterm elections.

“I have no time schedule. I’m not in a hurry,” Trump said.

The US president also threatened Oman over efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, saying Washington could take military action if Oman obstructed a potential agreement.

Iran and Oman have been negotiating arrangements to ensure the safe passage of commercial vessels through the strategic waterway. Tehran said the proposed mechanism would protect the sovereign rights of both countries while maintaining commercial shipping.

The US-Iran MoU expired on Monday, with neither side indicating a willingness to extend the agreement. Both Washington and Tehran have accused each other of violating the truce since it came into effect in June.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi previously said Tehran had not yet decided whether to resume negotiations with the United States.

Tensions have also escalated over the Strait of Hormuz, with Trump previously suggesting that the strategic waterway could become US territory. Iran rejected the claim, insisting that the strait would remain under Iranian control.
