President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed sadness over the death of a prominent Kano State politician and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Alhaji Hamza Usman Darma, who died at the age of 76.
Darma reportedly died in Kano on Friday after a brief illness. His funeral prayers were held on Saturday at his residence in Hororo, near the Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), Kano, after which he was buried.
In a condolence message issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described Darma as an honest and sincere friend and a committed member of the APC.
The President said Darma made significant contributions to the development of Kano State, progressive politics and the APC.
Tinubu recalled his longstanding relationship with the deceased, saying Darma was known for his honesty, sincerity and dedication to the political development of the country.
“I have known Darma to be honest and sincere since our paths crossed,” the President said.
He also paid tribute to Darma’s strong commitment to Islam, describing him as a devoted Muslim who remained faithful to his religious obligations.
Tinubu expressed condolences to Darma’s family, friends, political associates and the people of Kano State, praying for the repose of his soul.
