Qatar Denies Detaining Iranian Pilots, Says Remains of One Found

Qatar has denied reports that it is detaining Iranian pilots, saying the pilots had entered Qatari airspace earlier this year and failed to respond to repeated attempts by Qatari authorities to contact them.

A spokesperson for Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said search-and-rescue teams later recovered the remains of one of the pilots.

The spokesperson added that Qatar had contacted Iranian authorities to coordinate the handover of the remains.

Qatar also said Tehran had not yet responded to an invitation to review details of the operations surrounding the incident.

The development comes amid heightened regional tensions and growing scrutiny of military activities involving Iran and neighbouring countries.
