Pakistan and Iran Report Progress in Talks to End Conflict

Pakistan says it and Iran have made significant progress in discussions aimed at reducing tensions and finding a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel.

The talks, held in Tehran, focused on preventing further escalation, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and accelerating efforts to end the conflict through negotiations.

Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, met with Iranian leaders during the visit. Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who accompanied Munir, described the discussions as constructive and said Iran openly presented its position on the conflict.

The two countries also discussed regional peace and possible ways to reach a negotiated settlement.

Munir had reportedly spoken with U.S. President Donald Trump before travelling to Tehran. Trump has warned countries against providing assistance to Iran, while Iran has threatened to halt oil exports from the Gulf.

The latest talks could represent an important diplomatic effort by Pakistan to help reduce tensions and create a pathway toward ending the conflict.
