The Kano State Police Command has pledged to intensify efforts against thuggery, drug trafficking, and other criminal activities through closer collaboration with the Kano State Multi-Agency Taskforce on Drugs and Illicit Trafficking.
Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori made the commitment during a courtesy visit by the task force chairman, Muhuyi Rimin-Gado, to the command headquarters in Bompai.
Bakori said combating drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking requires a strong multi-agency approach, promising full police support through joint operations, intelligence sharing, technical assistance, and the deployment of tactical resources.
The police chief described drug abuse as a major driver of thuggery and violent clashes among criminal gangs in Kano, stressing that the command is determined to dismantle drug networks and restore public safety.
He also appealed to parents, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and community members to support security agencies by providing timely information and encouraging preventive measures to protect young people from drug-related crimes.
Bakori warned that anyone involved in drug trafficking, illicit drug sales, or thuggery would face the full weight of the law.
Speaking during the visit, Taskforce Chairman Muhuyi Rimin-Gado said the meeting aimed to strengthen cooperation between the task force and the police. He outlined the agency's 2026 operational plans and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting law enforcement through public awareness campaigns, community engagement, and intelligence gathering to eliminate drug trafficking across Kano State.
