Israeli authorities have issued a tender for the construction of 627 housing units in the Kochav Yaakov settlement in the occupied West Bank, according to Palestinian officials.
The Palestinian Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission (CRRC) said the Israel Land Authority published the tender for the project on Thursday. The deadline for construction companies to submit bids has been set for November 30.
The project covers approximately 253.7 dunams (25.37 hectares) of land in the Ramallah and al-Bireh governorate. Israeli authorities approved the project in April 2025, and the latest tender moves it from the planning stage toward construction.
The CRRC condemned the decision, saying the expansion would increase the settlement's built-up area and strengthen its connections with surrounding settlements and access roads.
Kochav Yaakov is located between northern Jerusalem and the Palestinian cities of Ramallah and al-Bireh, within the settlement bloc known as Binyamin.
Palestinian officials say Israel has issued 12 settlement tenders during the first half of 2026, covering 1,138 housing units in five major settlements, in addition to projects involving industrial areas, offices, nursing facilities and tourism infrastructure.
The CRRC also reported a sharp increase in settlement expansion and settler-related violence across the occupied West Bank, recording more than 11,000 attacks by Israeli forces and settlers since January.
The United Nations has repeatedly stated that Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory have no legal validity under international law. In 2024, the International Court of Justice also issued an advisory opinion declaring Israel's continued occupation of Palestinian territory unlawful.
