Iran Rules Out US Talks Until Washington Honours Interim Agreement.

Iran has ruled out resuming direct talks with the United States until Washington fulfils its obligations under an interim agreement signed in June, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on Sunday.

Araqchi said Tehran and Washington are currently not engaged in direct negotiations, although messages are still being exchanged through intermediaries.

The Iranian foreign minister also said an agreement between Iran and Oman concerning the Strait of Hormuz is in its final stages. However, he stressed that the agreement alone would not lead to the immediate reopening of the strategic waterway.

According to Iran's Mehr news agency, Araqchi said the proposed agreement would establish new shipping routes that would be used once the United States meets other conditions set by Tehran and the strait is reopened to maritime traffic.

The Strait of Hormuz is a major global energy route, and developments surrounding its status continue to attract international attention amid tensions between Iran and the United States.
