The Federal Government has deployed a special Passport Intervention Team from the headquarters of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) to the United Kingdom to address pending passport applications by Nigerians living in the country.
The initiative was directed by the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who instructed the Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, to facilitate the intervention.
According to the NIS, the team is expected to arrive in the UK on August 10, 2026, and will work with the Nigerian High Commission to process pending applications, new passport requests and renewal applications.
The intervention team will visit selected cities across the United Kingdom to conduct passport enrolment and processing, allowing eligible Nigerians in different locations to access the service.
The exercise is open to applicants with pending passport applications, first-time applicants and passport holders with less than one year remaining before expiry who wish to renew their documents.
Applicants are expected to present their completed application forms and proof of payment during enrolment.
However, the NIS advised applicants not to visit any location until the official schedule is released, including the designated cities, dates, venues and enrolment times.
The Service urged Nigerians in the UK to follow the official communication channels of the Nigerian High Commission for updates on the exercise.

The NIS also clarified that its digital passport application platforms, including the Contactless Passport Application System, will continue to operate throughout the intervention. The existing passport home-delivery service will also remain available.
The Immigration Service said the initiative is part of its broader efforts to provide faster, transparent and more responsive passport services to Nigerians both within the country and abroad.
