Police Arrest 23 Foreign Nationals Over Alleged Ponzi, Visa Fraud in Ogun.

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 23 foreign nationals over alleged involvement in a Ponzi scheme, visa fraud and other immigration-related offences in Ota, Ogun State.

The suspects were arrested on August 4 at about 11:00 a.m. during a police raid on a residential building in the area.

According to the command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the operation followed credible intelligence concerning suspected fraudulent activities at the location.

Police operatives attached to the Atan-Ota Division reportedly mobilised to the premises, secured the building and arrested the suspects for further investigation.

Babaseyi said that following preliminary investigations, 21 of the suspects were handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service on August 5 for further investigation and appropriate action over immigration-related offences.

However, two suspects remain in police custody and are expected to face prosecution for obtaining by false pretence and other related offences, subject to the conclusion of investigations.

The police spokesperson added that investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the alleged fraudulent activities and identify any other individuals who may be connected to the scheme.
