Senate President Godswill Akpabio has called on Nigerian Muslims to use the occasion of Eid-el-Maulud to pray for peace, unity, security and economic prosperity in Nigeria.
Akpabio made the call in a goodwill message to Muslims in Nigeria and around the world commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
He urged Nigerians, regardless of their religious or ethnic backgrounds, to embrace love, forgiveness, tolerance and mutual respect.
According to him, the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad provide lasting examples of compassion, humility, peaceful coexistence and service to humanity.
Akpabio also urged Nigerians to pray for the country’s leaders, improved security, economic progress and national unity.
He said Nigeria’s diversity should be regarded as a strength rather than a source of division, encouraging citizens to promote peaceful coexistence and mutual understanding.
The Senate President further reaffirmed the commitment of the 10th National Assembly to policies and legislation aimed at protecting religious freedom, strengthening national cohesion and improving the welfare of Nigerians.
Meanwhile, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu also called for unity and peace among Nigerians in her Eid-el-Maulud message.
She encouraged Muslims to emulate Prophet Muhammad’s virtues of compassion, forgiveness and peaceful coexistence, praying that the celebration would bring renewed hope, peace and blessings to Nigerians.
