Woman Gives Birth in Her Sleep, Discovers Baby Under Hospital Blanket

A 27-year-old Canadian woman, Carolina Moreno, has shared the remarkable story of giving birth to her third child while she was asleep during labour.

Moreno said she had been admitted to the hospital for an induced delivery after testing positive for Group B Streptococcus, which required doctors to administer antibiotics before inducing labour. After receiving an epidural to ease the pain of contractions, she eventually fell asleep.

While medical staff continued routine monitoring, they suddenly struggled to detect the baby's heartbeat, prompting concern. As nurses searched for the source of the problem, Moreno woke up fearing the worst.

When she turned onto her back, a nurse noticed something unusual beneath the blankets. To everyone's surprise, the baby had already been born without anyone realizing it and was lying quietly under the covers.

The newborn was immediately picked up and stimulated until he cried. Moreno said she and her family were shocked, as they had all unknowingly missed the birth.

Doctors later confirmed that the baby had delivered himself naturally while Moreno was asleep. The apparent disappearance of the heartbeat was simply because the baby was no longer in the womb.

Now three months old, the baby is healthy and thriving. Moreno described him as a calm and easy-going child, adding that his quiet personality explains why he remained silent immediately after birth.

She said the experience was terrifying at the time but is grateful that both she and her son came through the unusual delivery safely.
