President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to providing clean and safe drinking water to all six Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Represented by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu during the inauguration of the newly completed Bwari Water Supply Network on Tuesday, the President said the project reflects the government's promise under the Renewed Hope Agenda to improve the lives of Nigerians.
Tinubu noted that residents of Bwari, Ushafa, and nearby communities had long depended on untreated boreholes and streams for water. He explained that the new 198-kilometre pipeline network, connected to the Lower Usuma Dam, will provide treated water, reduce waterborne diseases, and eliminate the need for costly private boreholes.
He assured residents that similar water projects would soon be extended to Kuje, Kwali, Gwagwalada, and Abaji before the end of his administration.
The President also praised FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for driving key infrastructure projects across the territory, including roads, housing, and water supply, describing him as a strong partner in delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Speaking at the event, Wike said the Bwari Water Supply Network followed the successful inauguration of the Karu Water Supply Network in June, adding that the FCT Administration remains committed to improving essential services alongside ongoing road construction projects.
