Six Killed in Fresh Attacks on Plateau Communities

At least six people have been killed and one woman seriously injured following separate attacks on communities in the Plateau State local government areas of Barkin Ladi and Riyom.

According to the spokesperson of the Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM), the attacks occurred between Saturday and Sunday. He described the violence as unprovoked and urged security agencies to take decisive action to stop the recurring attacks across the state.

The first attack reportedly took place on Saturday afternoon in Rinyan village, Ta-Hoss community, Riyom LGA, where armed assailants killed a 40-year-old woman, Mrs. Hudung Luka, and critically injured another woman, Mrs. Ladi Istifanus.

Later that night, the attackers stormed Sabon Layi community in Barkin Ladi LGA, killing three residents identified as Sunday, Benjamin James, and Godwin Yakubu.

In the early hours of Sunday, the gunmen struck again in Kwi village, Riyom LGA, where two more residents, including Peter Bulus, were killed.

As of the time of reporting, the spokesperson for Operation Safe Haven had not issued an official statement regarding the incidents. Security agencies are yet to confirm the casualty figures or announce any arrests related to the attacks.
