Shettima Arrives in Jigawa for 2026 Investment Summit

Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, to participate in the 2026 Jigawa Investment Summit, taking place from July 1 to July 2.

Shettima was received at the Nuhu Muhammad Sunusi International Airport by Governor Umar Namadi, Deputy Governor Aminu Gumel, Kano State Deputy Governor Murtala Garo, the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad, members of the Jigawa State Executive Council, and other senior government officials.

As the Special Guest of Honour, the Vice President is expected to officially declare the summit open. The event is themed "Unlocking Opportunities: Driving Sustainable Growth for a Better Jigawa."

The summit aims to showcase Jigawa State's economic potential to both local and international investors while promoting investment, economic transformation, and job creation.

Discussions at the summit will bring together policymakers, development partners, entrepreneurs, financial institutions, and industry leaders to explore investment opportunities in key sectors, including agriculture, renewable energy, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), light manufacturing, education, and healthcare.

Jigawa State Commissioner for Information, Sagir Musa, said the state government is committed to attracting investments that will drive agricultural development, expand renewable energy, strengthen MSMEs, and enhance public-private partnerships in education and healthcare.

He added that Jigawa's peaceful business environment, fertile agricultural land, growing infrastructure, and youthful population make it an attractive destination for investors seeking opportunities in Nigeria.
