Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to using accurate population data to drive development and improve public service delivery across the state.
In a statement issued on Saturday to mark the 2026 World Population Day, the governor said reliable population statistics are essential for effective planning in critical sectors such as healthcare, education, employment, and infrastructure.
Radda described population growth as both a challenge and an opportunity, stressing that strategic planning and targeted investments are needed to harness the potential of the state's growing youth population.
"We must plan with accurate data. Every child, every job seeker, and every family deserves to be reflected in our policies, budgets, and development programmes," the governor said.
He announced plans to strengthen data collection systems, expand access to family planning services, invest in skills acquisition initiatives, and support Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to create more employment opportunities for young people.
The governor also directed all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in the state to align their 2026 work plans with current population data to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
Radda further called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil society organisations, and the media to support public awareness campaigns promoting responsible family planning and birth registration.
He also congratulated Katsina State's representative at the National Population Commission (NPC), Professor Sadiq Isa Radda, on his recent inauguration, expressing confidence that he would contribute to the production of credible population data for national and state development planning.
