The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested four suspected armed robbers linked to an attack on a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) lodge at the Specialist Hospital in Jimeta, Yola.
Police spokesperson Suleiman Nguroje said the suspects were arrested in connection with alleged criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, unlawful possession of dangerous weapons, and criminal trespass.
The suspects were identified as Elkana Ishaya (17), Mubarak Abubakar (22), Musa Umar (30), and Kabiru Tanko (20), all residents of different parts of Jimeta and nearby communities.
According to the police, the robbery occurred on June 27, 2026, when the suspects allegedly stormed the corps members' lodge with dangerous weapons and robbed about 36 corps members of their valuables, including mobile phones.
Following a report of the incident, operatives attached to the Karewa Area Command launched an investigation that led to the arrest of the four suspects. Police also recovered four mobile phones believed to have been stolen during the robbery.
The command said investigations are ongoing to recover more stolen items and track down other members of the gang who remain at large. The suspects will be charged to court after investigations are concluded.
Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Kabir Hassan, reassured residents, particularly corps members, of the command's commitment to protecting lives and property. He also urged members of the public to promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station.
