Tesla Unveils Six-Seater Model Y L in U.S. Market

Tesla has introduced a new six-seater, long-wheelbase version of its popular Model Y SUV in the United States as the electric vehicle maker seeks to increase sales following the end of a key federal EV tax credit.

The launch edition of the Model Y L starts at $61,990, according to the company's website. The new model features three rows of seats and offers an estimated driving range of 325 miles on a single charge.

Tesla also announced that the extended-wheelbase Model Y is now available in the United Arab Emirates, expanding its presence beyond Asia, where the model was first introduced.

The Model Y L debuted in China last year, helping Tesla strengthen sales despite intense competition from Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers, including BYD. The company later expanded the model to other Asia-Pacific markets.

Rather than introducing entirely new vehicle models, Tesla has focused on releasing new variants of its existing Model Y SUV and Model 3 sedan to attract more customers.

The U.S. launch comes as Tesla reported record second-quarter vehicle deliveries that exceeded Wall Street expectations, driven by a recovery in European sales. The strong performance has raised hopes that the company could end two consecutive years of annual sales declines in 2026.
