No Ransom Deal in Oyo Rescue, Eight Kidnappers Arrested – Presidency

The Presidency has confirmed that security agencies successfully rescued the pupils and teachers abducted from Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State after spending 56 days in captivity.

Presidential Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced that eight suspected kidnappers were arrested during the rescue operation and are currently being held by the Department of State Services (DSS).

He also disclosed that several other members of the kidnapping gang were killed during the operation.

According to Onanuga, the government did not negotiate or exchange any prisoner for the victims' release. He explained that one of the notorious gang leaders whose release had been demanded by the kidnappers remains in custody and is being prosecuted for his alleged crimes.
