Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested two foreign nationals—a Sudanese man suspected of having links to terrorist groups and a Ghanaian woman believed to be an illegal immigrant—during a security operation in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.
According to the Nigerian Army, the suspects were apprehended by troops of the 115 Task Force Battalion in the Lassa–Dille general area on July 19, 2026, as part of ongoing intelligence-led counterterrorism operations in Nigeria's North-East.
The Sudanese national, identified as Musa Fashir, 32, is suspected of being a foreign terrorist fighter and collaborator. Military authorities said preliminary intelligence suggests he may have established connections with terrorist elements operating in the region.
The second suspect, Mary Florence, 36, is a Ghanaian national who reportedly claimed to be an illegal immigrant. Security agencies are investigating the circumstances surrounding her presence in the area and verifying her identity and claims.
Both individuals are currently in military custody, where they are undergoing profiling and interrogation to determine the extent of their activities and any possible links to terrorist or transnational criminal networks.
The Army said the arrests demonstrate the effectiveness of its intelligence-driven operations and reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling terrorist networks, preventing the infiltration of foreign fighters, and restoring peace and security across Nigeria's North-East.
Military authorities also urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could help combat terrorism and other criminal activities.
