The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has graduated more than 3,000 newly trained soldiers at the Depot Nigerian Army in Amasiri-Edda, Ebonyi State, as part of efforts to strengthen the country's security forces.
Speaking during the passing-out parade on Wednesday, Shaibu said the Federal Government remains committed to expanding the Nigerian Army's manpower to tackle the nation's growing security challenges.
He noted that the recruits had undergone intensive training designed to prepare them for modern warfare and Nigeria's evolving security environment. The Army chief urged the new soldiers to remain disciplined, professional, courageous, and loyal to the Constitution.
Shaibu described the establishment of the Amasiri-Edda training depot as a major step toward improving the Army's training capacity and producing combat-ready personnel. He also praised the commandant, instructors, and support staff for successfully training the recruits.
Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, described the military training depot as an important national asset, saying it has enhanced security, stimulated economic activities, and created employment opportunities for residents of the state and neighboring communities.
The governor reaffirmed his administration's commitment to working closely with the Armed Forces and other security agencies to promote peace, security, and development.
The graduation ceremony was attended by senior military officers, government officials, traditional rulers, families of the recruits, and other dignitaries. Activities included a ceremonial parade, precision drills, and awards for outstanding recruits.
