NANS Names 39 Institutions Yet to Refund Students After NELFUND Tuition Payments

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has identified 39 tertiary institutions that have yet to refund students who paid their tuition fees before receiving support from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

In a statement released on Wednesday, NANS President Akinteye Babatunde said the affected institutions had already received tuition payments from NELFUND on behalf of eligible students but had not reimbursed those who had previously settled their school fees.

According to NANS, publishing the list is intended to promote transparency, accountability, and ensure that students receive their refunds without unnecessary delays.

The association urged all affected institutions to immediately process the refunds, stressing that students should not bear additional financial burdens after NELFUND has covered their tuition fees.

The 39 institutions include universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education across several states, such as the University of Nigeria, Federal University Dutsin-Ma, Nasarawa State University, Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, Ekiti State University, University of Calabar, Rivers State University, and Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic, among others.

NANS reaffirmed its commitment to protecting students' interests and called on the institutions to comply promptly by refunding all eligible students.
