The Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has urged all intending pilgrims for the 2027 Hajj to complete their payments and submit the required documentation before September 26, 2026, in line with the deadline set by the Saudi Arabian authorities.
The Executive Secretary of the Board, Abdulsalam Abdulkadir, gave the directive on Thursday in Ilorin, warning that late payment or incomplete documentation could affect visa processing and prevent pilgrims from participating in next year's Hajj.
According to him, previous Hajj exercises saw some intending pilgrims miss the deadline, forcing some to seek refunds, while others experienced delays in obtaining their visas.
He said the Board is committed to improving on the successes recorded during the 2026 Hajj by providing better accommodation, enhanced welfare services, and more efficient coordination for pilgrims from Kwara State.
Abdulkadir also disclosed that preparations for the 2027 pilgrimage have already begun, including plans for early airlift operations using aircraft with a capacity of more than 200 passengers to ensure a smoother exercise.
He advised intending pilgrims to remain patient, comply with all guidelines, and begin preparations early to avoid last-minute challenges.
Speaking on reports that some pilgrims received different Personal Travelling Allowances during the 2024 Hajj, Abdulkadir clarified that the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) approved and paid $400 to each pilgrim, while the additional $100 received by some beneficiaries was a personal donation from Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq during the farewell ceremony.
He stressed that the extra payment should not be regarded as part of the official allowance approved by NAHCON.
The Board reiterated that early compliance with payment and documentation requirements remains essential, especially as Saudi authorities continue to enforce stricter timelines for Hajj planning and visa processing.
