The Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has officially commenced registration for the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage, announcing an initial deposit of ₦7.5 million for intending pilgrims.
The board also warned that registration will close in 87 days, urging interested residents to complete the process before the deadline.
Director General of the board, Ahmed Labbo, made the announcement during a meeting with zonal officers representing the state's 27 local government areas at the board's headquarters in Dutse.
According to Labbo, the early registration follows directives from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and Saudi Arabian authorities, aimed at ensuring better planning for the pilgrimage.
He explained that Saudi Arabia has fixed September as the deadline for Hajj registration worldwide, making it necessary for intending pilgrims to secure their slots early.
Labbo instructed zonal officers to intensify public awareness campaigns and ensure all Hajj seats allocated to the state are filled before the deadline.
He added that early payments would enable the board to make timely arrangements for transportation, accommodation, feeding, and other logistics in Saudi Arabia.
The director general noted that the 2026 Hajj exercise experienced challenges due to late payments and incomplete documentation, stressing that the board is determined to avoid a repeat during the 2027 pilgrimage.
Labbo also expressed appreciation to Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi for his continued support, saying the governor's assistance has contributed significantly to the smooth conduct of Hajj operations in the state.
