Israeli Airstrikes Kill Four, Including Children, Across Gaza

At least four Palestinians, including two children, were killed and dozens of others injured in fresh Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip on Thursday, according to Gaza health officials.

The latest attacks came as Hamas representatives met with mediators from Qatar, Egypt and Türkiye in Cairo to discuss the implementation of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement with Israel.

Health authorities in Gaza said hospitals received six bodies and 34 injured people within the past 24 hours. The figure includes four people killed in new strikes, one person who later died from previous injuries, and another body recovered from earlier attacks.

In southern Gaza's Khan Younis, an Israeli airstrike hit a tent sheltering displaced families, killing a man and an eight-year-old child. Officials said the strike also caused injuries among civilians living in the camp.

Another attack in the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza claimed the life of an 18-month-old child after a residential house was struck. Eight other people were reported injured.

In Gaza City, a separate strike killed a man riding a bicycle and wounded at least 10 others.

The renewed violence comes despite an existing ceasefire agreement that has remained fragile, with both sides accusing each other of failing to meet key commitments.

Negotiations in Cairo are focused on advancing the next phase of the truce, although major disagreements remain over Israel's military presence in Gaza and Hamas's refusal to disarm.

Aid deliveries also remain a major point of concern, with humanitarian agencies warning that the volume of assistance entering Gaza is still below the levels outlined in the ceasefire agreement.

According to Gaza's Health Ministry, more than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 174,000 injured since the conflict began in October 2023. These figures have not been independently verified. Israel says it targets Hamas fighters and military infrastructure while seeking to minimize civilian casualties.
