Gunmen Kidnap Oyo Headmaster, Demand ₦30 Million for Release

A school headmaster in Oyo State has been kidnapped by suspected gunmen, who are demanding a ransom of ₦30 million for his release.

The victim, 60-year-old Matthew Kolawale Owoade, headmaster of Nomadic Basic School in Igbojaye, Itesiwaju Local Government Area, was reportedly abducted on Saturday evening while returning from his farm.

According to his son, Abiola Owoade, the attackers intercepted his father on the way home and later contacted the family using the victim's mobile phone to demand ₦30 million in ransom.

A search party recovered the victim's abandoned motorcycle in a nearby bush on Sunday morning, but his whereabouts remain unknown.

The incident has sparked concern among residents, colleagues, and members of the education community, who have appealed to security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the headmaster safely and bring those responsible to justice.

Confirming the incident, Oyo State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, said the victim was abducted at his farm in Budo Aare. He added that police operatives have launched a rescue operation and are working to arrest the kidnappers.
