Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has called on members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to become catalysts for development by making meaningful contributions to their host communities during their service year.
Speaking through the State Commissioner for Youth Development, Gloria Ibrahim, at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Batch 'B' Stream I orientation course in Kaduna, the governor said the three-week programme had equipped corps members with discipline, resilience, and a stronger appreciation of Nigeria's unity in diversity.
He encouraged them to view every community as an opportunity to create lasting impact, urging them to serve with excellence in schools, hospitals, farms, offices, and other places of primary assignment. He also challenged them to initiate community development projects that would improve the lives of residents.
Governor Sani reaffirmed his administration's commitment to the welfare and security of corps members through continued collaboration with security agencies and host communities. He also urged public and private employers to mentor corps members and entrust them with meaningful responsibilities.
Commending participants in the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, the governor encouraged them to complete the post-camp training and use the skills acquired to become entrepreneurs and job creators.
Earlier, Kaduna State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Efeke Dadaza, said the corps members had completed paramilitary drills, entrepreneurship training, and lectures on national unity, preparing them for their service across the state.
She urged them to integrate peacefully with their host communities and undertake impactful community development projects. Dadaza also appealed to the state government to renovate damaged camp facilities, provide more bunk beds and mattresses, improve feeding, enhance welfare packages, and establish a permanent NYSC orientation camp in Kaduna State.
