Fourth Evacuation Flight from South Africa Delayed After Aircraft Windscreen Damage

The Federal Government has announced that the fourth evacuation flight scheduled to bring stranded Nigerians back from South Africa has been delayed after cracks were detected on the cockpit windscreen of the aircraft.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the aircraft was unable to depart from Johannesburg because of the safety issue. The ministry assured affected passengers that the situation is being addressed.

Ministry spokesperson Kimiebi Ebienfa said Air Peace will deploy a replacement aircraft later on Wednesday to complete the evacuation.

«"The flight could not take off after cracks were discovered on the cockpit windscreen. Air Peace is deploying another aircraft to South Africa to evacuate the stranded Nigerians. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused," Ebienfa said.»

The Federal Government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safe return of all affected Nigerians, stressing that passenger safety remains its highest priority.
