At least eight people, including four children, were injured in a shooting late on the U.S. Independence Day holiday in the Coney Island neighborhood of New York City.
According to the New York City Police Department (NYPD), officers responded to reports of gunfire at about 10:37 p.m. on Saturday on West 31st Street in Brooklyn.
The victims include two men, two women, and four children aged 14, 12, 7, and 6. All were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Police said seven victims are in stable condition, while a 21-year-old woman remains in critical condition.
Investigators recovered a firearm at the scene, but no arrests have been made as the investigation continues.
The shooting occurred during celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States.
