At least five Palestinians, including a nine-year-old girl, were killed in separate Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip on Sunday, according to Gaza health officials.
Medical sources said the child was fatally shot near a displaced persons' camp east of the Al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza. In a separate incident, an Israeli drone strike hit a blacksmith's workshop in Gaza City's Sabra neighbourhood, killing four people and injuring another.
The Israeli military confirmed carrying out a strike in the area, saying it targeted what it described as "terrorist infrastructure," but provided no further details.
Health officials also reported that two Palestinians later died from wounds sustained in earlier Israeli attacks near Al-Bureij and east of Khan Younis.
The latest violence comes despite a ceasefire brokered by the United States between Israel and Hamas in October 2025. Gaza's Health Ministry says more than 1,098 Palestinians have been killed and over 3,500 injured in Israeli attacks since the truce took effect.
Meanwhile, Hamas leaders are in Cairo for talks on implementing the second phase of a U.S.-backed peace plan, with discussions focusing on Hamas disarmament and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza. No breakthrough has been announced.
