Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced a major cabinet reshuffle, replacing Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko as part of a broader effort to strengthen the country's foreign policy and national security agenda.
In a statement released on Sunday, Zelenskyy said the government reorganisation is designed to improve the implementation of Ukraine's strategic priorities by assigning experienced officials to oversee key foreign policy areas.
The president said he had discussed the changes with Svyrydenko and that both agreed a renewal of the Cabinet of Ministers was necessary to meet the country's current challenges.
Svyrydenko, who became prime minister in July 2025 after succeeding Denys Shmyhal, previously served as First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy. She played a key role in negotiating a strategic minerals agreement between Ukraine and the United States.
Reacting to her departure, Svyrydenko expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the government during a difficult period, praising Ukraine's armed forces for their continued defence of the country.
Zelenskyy also announced planned leadership changes within several law enforcement agencies. He said the new administration will prioritise expanding Ukraine's international partnerships, strengthening air defence cooperation, advancing European Union membership efforts, and deepening economic and security ties with Gulf countries.
