An Abuja High Court has ordered the remand of two siblings and a third suspect at the Suleja Correctional Centre over the alleged killing of their father, Adimike Godwin, in the Guzape area of the Federal Capital Territory.
The suspects — Adimike Anthony, Adimike Stephany, and Comfort Ajibade — were arraigned by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command on charges of criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, and offences under the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act.
According to the FCT Police Command, the incident occurred on May 15, 2026, after officers received a distress call from a relative who was unable to reach the deceased. Detectives who arrived at the residence reportedly found Godwin unconscious with multiple stab wounds. He was rushed to Karu General Hospital, where doctors confirmed him dead.
Police said a detailed investigation ordered by the FCT Commissioner of Police led to the arrest of five suspects. However, after the investigation was concluded, only Anthony, Stephany, and Ajibade were charged before the court.
The three defendants are facing charges of conspiracy to commit culpable homicide and culpable homicide. In addition, Anthony is facing a separate charge of entering into a same-sex civil union, while Stephany and Ajibade were jointly charged with the same offence under the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act.
The court adjourned the case until September 30, 2026, for further hearing and directed that the defendants remain in custody at the Suleja Correctional Centre pending the outcome of the trial.
The FCT Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring justice is served while respecting the constitutional rights of all individuals involved in the judicial process.
