UK Defence Deputy Chief Visits Maiduguri To Boost Nigeria-UK Military Partnership

The United Kingdom’s Deputy Chief of the Defence Staff, Lt Gen Sir Charlie Collins, has arrived in Maiduguri, Borno State, for a high-level review of defence cooperation between the UK and Nigerian Army.

The British Defence Staff in West Africa confirmed the visit on Tuesday, stating that the engagement highlights the UK’s continued support for Nigeria-led efforts to improve security and strengthen regional stability in West Africa.

During the visit, Collins met with Nigerian military officials and observed ongoing security operations aimed at tackling terrorism and insurgency challenges in the region.

Photos from the visit showed a military guard of honour, official meetings, handshakes, and the exchange of plaques between British and Nigerian officers.

The visit comes as Nigeria continues to deepen international partnerships in the fight against insecurity, including terrorism and banditry across northern parts of the country.
