Satellite images and video analysis reviewed by BBC Verify suggest that Iranian attacks have damaged around 20 US military facilities across the Middle East since the beginning of the conflict, indicating a broader impact than previously acknowledged.
According to the report, Iran has carried out strikes on key military sites in at least eight countries since late February, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan, Bahrain, and Oman. The attacks are said to have damaged air defence systems, refuelling aircraft, radar installations, and other military infrastructure.
BBC Verify noted that the extent of destruction includes advanced equipment such as missile defence batteries and surveillance aircraft, with some losses estimated to cost hundreds of millions of dollars per unit. Analysts say the affected systems are difficult and expensive to replace.
The report also indicates that at least 42 aircraft, including fighter jets and drones, may have been damaged or destroyed during the period under review.
While the Pentagon has previously said it has struck thousands of targets in Iran during ongoing operations, US officials declined to comment on the latest findings, citing operational security concerns.
Analysts cited in the report suggest Iran has shifted tactics over time, moving from large-scale missile attacks to more precise strikes on high-value military assets. However, some experts argue that US forces may have initially underestimated the evolving nature of the attacks.
The situation comes amid continued tensions in the region, with concerns that any renewed escalation could further strain air defence systems and military readiness across US and allied bases in the Gulf.
