Kremlin Seeks Answers From Apple After Russian Apps Removed From App Store

Moscow has demanded an explanation from Apple after several Russian applications linked to technology company VK were removed from the App Store.

The Kremlin said the removal of the apps, which include social media, messaging, video, email and educational services, had affected millions of Russian users.

VK, a state-controlled Russian technology firm, said Apple deleted its applications without warning or explanation, arguing that the company was not under Western sanctions.

Apple responded that it removed the apps to comply with international sanctions and local laws in the countries where it operates.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russian authorities would contact Apple directly and seek clarification, warning that Moscow could reconsider its future cooperation with the company if no explanation was provided.

Russia has increasingly promoted domestic digital platforms and encouraged citizens to use locally developed services amid ongoing tensions with Western technology companies.
