The Katsina State Government has announced that indigenes who graduate with first-class degrees will now receive automatic employment, regardless of the university they attended across Nigeria.
Governor Dikko Radda announced the expanded policy during the closing ceremony of the first Katsina Students’ Week held at Bayero University Kano.
He said the initiative was introduced to reward academic excellence and strengthen the state’s workforce with highly skilled professionals.
Previously, the automatic employment scheme was only available to first-class graduates from institutions within Katsina State. The new policy has now been extended to all Katsina indigenes who earn first-class honours from accredited higher institutions nationwide.
The governor added that the programme would help improve public service delivery and support development across the state.
He also revealed that his administration had cleared scholarship payment arrears covering 2021 to 2026 to ensure continued support for students.
Students and education stakeholders welcomed the announcement, describing it as a major motivation for academic excellence and youth employment in Katsina State.
