Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Visit Pakistan Tomorrow: Foreign Office

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian will arrive in Pakistan tomorrow for an official visit, Pakistan’s Foreign Office announced on Monday.

The Iranian leader will visit Pakistan at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including ministers and senior officials.

During the visit, President Pezeshkian is expected to meet Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari and hold talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Senate Chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will also meet the visiting president.

The Foreign Office said the visit will provide an opportunity for both countries to review bilateral relations and explore ways to strengthen cooperation in trade, energy, border security, regional connectivity, and people-to-people relations.

It added that the visit comes after recent diplomatic engagements, including the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, and will also cover regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The visit follows recent US-Iran talks in Switzerland, where both sides reportedly made progress toward a possible peace framework and agreed to continue negotiations within a 60-day period.

Pakistan and Qatar mediated the discussions, with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir representing Islamabad.

The Foreign Office described President Pezeshkian’s visit as a sign of the shared commitment between Pakistan and Iran to strengthen historic ties and promote peace and stability in the region.
